What made me skip writing for a few days?

Long time no see. It was too busy to keep a journal because of a farewell meal & seeing off people, my mate’s birthday party, welcome meals, working and so on. Finally, I can keep it in one piece.

Anyway, my new roommate, from Germany, 17 years young came to my room yesterday. I have already had three roommates just for a month. When I heard his age and country, I remembered the experience which I visited his country for my high school project. At that time, I was also 17 years young but I couldn’t speak English on that level. And, he talks to me with various idioms and phrases which I’ve never heard so it’s too hard for me to communicate with him. Then, I’m jealous of him and feel motivated.

Today, we went out to set up for his stay after our class. He was surprised to have to get a transportation card and to go through a gate at the MRT station. Because his country’s transportations such as trains and buses don’t require a gate to make sure of the ride’s cost. Although I knew that, most people might be surprised if they knew that. I will quickly finish this journal entry and do tasks tonight because I would like to talk with him to hear something interesting about his country.

日記投稿が久しぶりになっていた訳と2回目のウェルカム

お久しぶりです。この期間フェアウェル会、仲間の誕生日・歓迎会、仕事などなどちょっと忙しかったので、日記を書くには忙し過ぎました。ですが、今日はこうして無事書けています。

さて、昨日ドイツから17歳の新しいルームメイトが部屋にやってきました。※滞在期間1ヶ月で3人のルームメイトを経験しています（笑）彼の年齢と国を聞いたとき、高校の研修でドイツを訪れたときのことを思い出しました。当時僕も17歳でしたが、彼のように英語はうまく話せませんでした…。彼は僕が聞いたこともないようなイディオムやフレーズで話しかけてくるので、コミュニケーションをとるのが少し難しいです。そんな彼を羨ましく思いながら、やる気を出しています。

今日は授業の後、彼の滞在のセットアップのために街へ。その時、彼はMRTの駅で交通カードを手に入れ、改札を通らなければならないことに驚いていた。彼の国の電車やバスなどの交通機関は、乗車料金を確認するための改札が用意されていないからです。僕は知っていましたが、多くの人はその事実を知ったら驚くかもしれないですね。今夜は彼と話をして、彼の国について興味深い話を聞きたいので、この日記とタスクをさっさと終わらせることにします。
