Commonplace matters of conversation
Due to a visit to Sentosa Island with my roommate on Thursday and the party on the rooftop yesterday, I haven’t been able to write my diary.
It took a week to settle in Singapore and I ‘ve noticed a lot of things about talking to someone. For example, my mate doesn’t give me a sentence with the words I thought. When I watched a film, I use ‘watch’ as the verb of the sentence. But some students usually use ‘see/saw’ at that time. This is the reason to be confused in a conversation with each other. But, we are students who want to increase own English skill, so It’s no matter. Our teacher said that students don’t have to care a grammar and mistakes. However, we should be conscious of pronouncing correctly when we speak to someone. If we can’t hear the word someone is saying, we can’t understand the meaning they are trying to convey.

会話の当たり前のこと
木曜日はサントサ島に行っていたり、金曜日はナイトパーティーに参加したりで日記が書けなかった。
シンガポールに馴染むまで1週間かかって、人との会話においていくつものことに気付かされる。例えば、仲間は自分が想定している通りの単語を使って会話してくれない。「映画を見た」という場合、”見た”という動詞に”watch”を使うべきだけど、何人かは”see(過去形はsaw)”を使ったりする。これが混乱を招く理由になったりする。僕らは英語を学びに来ている学生だし、正しい/間違いなんて大した問題ではない。先生も「間違いと文法は気にするな」と言うし。でも、会話する時の発音はしっかり意識しないといけない。もしその単語が聞き取れないと何を伝えようとしているのか理解してもらえないから。
来週もがんばろ。
